Matthew 5:44

I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.

Prayer

Forgiveness is a lovely idea, Lord, until I have someone to forgive. You set a high and difficult standard. I know I pray the words in The Lord's Prayer about "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." I need your help here, Lord. Give me the spirit of forgiveness even when I would rather not be forgiving. Take me further to where you want me to be.
