Peachtree Christian Church, We are in the midst of some wonderful celebrations. Last Sunday was our centennial celebration. I want to thank Martha Vickers and our Centennial Committee for all their hard work in putting together a wonderful time of celebrating our past. Doing so gives us inspiration for our future. I also want to thank Polly Warren for her leadership on our centennial magazine—you have done great work. I am still inspired by Rev. Sam Wells’ notion from his sermon Sunday: “Perhaps we are the early church.” He noted that 100 years is a long time to be a church (in American terms), but why do we always think we are at the end of God's story? Perhaps there are thousands—or even millions—of years still to go. Church, he is right: we have so much more to do. But there is nothing wrong with celebrating milestones along the way. With that in mind, I hope you’ll invite someone to come with you to our Mayfest celebration this Sunday. After worship, we will gather for a good old-fashioned carnival filled with merriment, tomfoolery, and gaiety! At 9:00, our service will be typical, with a traditional sermon based on Jesus’ command in John’s Gospel to “love one another as I have loved you.” At 11:00, our worship will be led by ministers from across the country who grew up at Peachtree Christian Church. I will interview two of them as we discuss the idea that healthy churches are ones that multiply ministry! I hope to see you—and a guest or two—with you! Remember, we want to grow… and the best way to do that is to invite folks to “come and see.” Grace and Peace, Jarrod

SUN | MAY 11 | Sanctuary | Stew Wood Hall SUN | MAY 18 | 12-3 PM | Church Grounds May 11 and May 18, 2025 – Mark them in your calendar, for they are two dates that have been 100 years in the making! Since May 10, 1925, God has blessed Peachtree by providing leaders with vision, benefactors willing to support our mission, and congregants devoted to Him. He has enabled us to reach others through worship, service, and fellowship. He has enabled us to serve the community through organizations such as Campbell-Stone and Peachtree Health. On May 11, 2025, we will offer praise and thanks for His faithfulness to us. You will want to be part of this special service. You will want to be at Peachtree to worship, join in welcoming members and guests, and hear The Rev. Dr. Sam Wells deliver a special message. Stay for a reception after the service to greet friends and renew friendships. The following Sunday, May 18, we will celebrate with a festival, MayFest. We’ll come to church in casual clothes so we can participate fully in all the activities. There will be games for all ages, food trucks, music, and more. The younger folks can navigate the obstacle course. Older folks might enjoy the tricycle races, a cupcake walk, or BINGO. Everyone will enjoy hot dogs and pizza. The big question is: Who’s going to get dunked? We’ll also be honoring our Home-Grown Clergy – adults from across the country who grew up in the church and now lead flocks of their own. One Hundred Years deserves two big events: Worship on May 11 and celebration on May 18. You don’t want to miss either one!

Wednesdays Jan 8-June 25 | 7pm | Library and Online The woman at the well, the teacher who came to Jesus by night, the disciple who doubted: John’s gospel offers us so many eyes through whom to encounter Jesus. Simultaneously the most simple of all the gospels and the most profound, John’s gospel provides the reader with its own insightful perspective on Jesus’ life, ministry, and meaning. We offer this class as an extended study to allow participants an opportunity to enter deeply into this amazing text. We have built a few breaks into the schedule to allow some breathers for all. Whether you are new to Bible study, revisiting this gospel for a refresher, or seeking a deeper encounter with a familiar text, you will find nurture for your spiritual growth in this study. Contact Rev. Brooks Gignilliat (bgignilliat@peachtree.org) or Mary-Elizabeth Ellard (ellardw@bellsouth.net) for more information. Register: Peachtree.org/john

Sundays | May 11- June 29 | 10am | RM 213 When have ever you felt cut off from home, from the familiar, from security and belonging? What buoyed you up? What dragged you down or threatened to turn you away from your authentic self? When the Israelites found themselves exiled to Babylon, God sent prophets to them to speak words of comfort and of challenge to bring His people home to Him. Come and hear how these words can speak to us in our own experiences of Exile, on how we can come home to God and – more radically -- how God comes to us even when we are far away from Him.
