Rev. Brooks Gignilliat
Brooks Gignilliat was born and raised in Savannah, GA, before finding his way to Atlanta in college. Brooks likes to refer to his undergraduate education as a collegiate tour of the southeast as he attended four different universities before becoming a graduate of Georgia State. Once settled in Atlanta he met his wife, Jordan, at Georgia Tech Christian Campus Fellowship, an important ministry for both of them which reinforced their faith and largely inspired their passion for ministry with college students. After graduating from college they both interned at campus ministries in the Atlanta area, Brooks at Bread at Emory University and Jordan at GTCCF. Following their internships, they married and both pursued degrees at Emmanuel Christian Seminary, in Johnson City, TN; graduating with a Masters of Divinity in Christian Ministries in 2017. Following graduation, they joined Christian Missionary Fellowship International (CMFI), to help start a campus ministry in Valencia, Spain called En Vivo Valencia. Brooks and Jordan served as part of the ministry for five years, making lifelong connections with students and staff alike. They also became parents to Lola and Sammy during their time in Valencia. Brooks will always be partial to Mediterranean Spain for its relaxed lifestyle, rich history, exciting gastronomy, and most of all, the beautiful memories made there. Leaving to pursue ministry closer to family was a weighty decision, and Brooks understands what it means to consider two places home.
Brooks is an Atlanta sports fan and Georgia Tech football faithful, you could say that he just does not know when to quit. As an avid user of audio books, Brooks jokes that he is fairly well “listened.”
Inspired from a young age by his mother who was a dedicated volunteer and ministry participant, Brooks has always loved the community of the local church. Whether the occasion calls for a good meal together, a quiet presence in a hard moment, or a ringer for the church league basketball team, Brooks is willing and passionate about forming part. There is something beautiful and raw about a group of people who stick together through life’s complications in the name of Jesus.
