Roy Firestone
Roy Firestone is an accomplished organist, choir director, and accompanist with over 35 years of experience. He strives to create beautiful and engaging music for every worship service. He has a passion for hymn playing and for supporting congregational singing.
A native of Warrenton, VA, Roy received the Ruth B. Spitzer Memorial Organ Scholarship to James Madison University in 1992. He was honored to be the chosen organ soloist for the Kennedy Center Christmas Eve concert in 1994. During a semester abroad, he studied organ with Mark Stringer of St. Martin in the Fields, London. He completed several post-graduate courses in choral conducting at the University of Southern California.
Roy is also a composer, conductor, and performer of music for film, television, and multimedia. He scored the feature films JOSE CANSECO: THE TRUTH HURTS, GALLOWS ROAD, starring Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters, Oz) and Kevin Sorbo (God’s Not Dead, Hercules), DEATH AND TEXAS, starring Charles Durning (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) and Steve Harris (ABC’s The Practice, Minority Report) and THE MOSTLY UNFABULOUS SOCIAL LIFE OF ETHAN GREEN, based on the hit underground comic strip of the same name. He assisted in music preparation for The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions (Don Davis, composer). Roy relocated from Los Angeles to Midtown Atlanta in the summer of 2024 with his husband Michael, 4yo daughter Noelle, and 16yo son Trevor. His 18yo son Jacob stayed in LA in his first apartment. Roy served on the board of directors for Extraordinary Families, a nonprofit-profit foster care and adoption agency. He works full-time as a product leader in media and entertainment technology and teaches product management part-time for UCLA Extension and Emory Continuing Education.
