Prayer Prompt March 20

SCRIPTURE

Psalm 33:20

We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield.

Jeremiah 29:11-13

For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

PRAYER

Good morning Lord, our Creator and Savior; Lord, You never promised that I would never face opposition or crisis in this life…in fact, You promised exactly the opposite. But I have real hope in You because You have promised in Your Word to be my help and my shield. I realize the reason Lent is so long is that this path to the truth of oneself is long, thorny and filled with potholes; and at the very end one stands alone before the sacrificed body; crowned with thorns…upon the cross. May I practice a surrender to You that includes all possible methods and degrees of service to You. May I embrace the gifts You ask from me…self-denial, obedience, and love. Amen.
