NEW CLASS: God’s Church in Crisis: First Corinthians

Sundays, February 17 – June 23    |   10 am   |   Room 213

Paul had hardly left the fledgling congregation in Corinth when he began to receive troubling, even alarming, reports of infighting, debauchery, and snobbery.  In response to the chaos, Paul’s letter gives voice to some of our most beloved passages of Scripture.  Come join us as we enter first century Corinth to learn what it means to serve “Jesus Christ alone and Him crucified.”

Treasure in Clay Jars:  Second Corinthians

Sundays | 10 am | June 30 – August 25

Paul’s stormy relationship with the congregation in Corinth taught him and them how flawed we remain, even as believers.  Still, Paul says that in God’s mercy, God entrusts us with the treasure of the Gospel, so that we can witness and minister to people just as flawed as we are.  Come read Paul as he inspires us to be of good courage, even when we face disappointment and sleepless nights.

A Summer in Psalms

Sundays, June 30, July 28, and August 25   |   5 pm   |   Chapel

This Summer, in lieu of our regular weekly Evensong schedule, Peachtree will gather on the last Sunday of each month at 5 pm for a special Evensong service centered on the Psalms as our primary source for prayer and worship, as well as a comprehensive and sacred expression of the human experience. Each of the three services will focus on a different dynamic within the Psalms, identified by Old Testament scholar Walter Brueggemann as “orientation,” “disorientation,” and “reorientation.” We will learn from the Psalms how to trust and praise, how to lament, and how to respond to God’s salvation. Each service will involve a variety of voices and styles—both sung and spoken—in which the Psalms can be experienced and expressed.
