Continuing our encounter with the Psalms this summer, we will gather in the evening to read and sing psalms of lament, as well as reflect on art inspired by them. Psalms of lament train us to worship even in the midst of pain, loss, doubt, and struggles of every kind. All of human life is meant to be honestly and prayerfully brought before God, and the Psalms give us voice to do so.
Believe it or not, school starts soon, but there are many children in our community who do not have the supplies they need. The Christian Women’s Fellowship invites you to help by donating school supplies on Back-to-School Sunday. Donations will benefit Forever Family, a group supporting children with incarcerated parents, and other local organizations. Many retailers currently have Back-to-School sales, so it’s a great time to help Metro Atlanta children to be ready for school.

Join Rev. Nick Chambers as he explores the history of Christianity to recover and renew questions and insights at the neglected yet rich intersection of theology and spirituality. This class will help you answer questions such as “What is the end goal of Christian life, and how to we pursue it in practice?” and “What does it actually look like to be ‘transformed’ and to ‘work out our salvation?’”
Understanding Revelation can be difficult—but it doesn’t have to be! Beginning September 13, Rev. Jared Wortman will be teaching a 13-week class working through the entire book of Revelation. The goal of the class is to help participants understand the historical and social contexts of the book while also being mindful of responsible applications in today’s world.
11 am Worship Service
Dr. Willimon will present the sermon.
Lunch and Learn
The congregation is invited to a lunch in Burns Hall where Dr. Willimon will trace the unique challenges and possibilities of being an historic church in today’s urban context. There is no cost for the lunch and childcare and activities will be provided for children under 12 years old.
